All official coaches for baseball and softball teams, as well as parents and relatives participating in coaching activities on the playing and practice fields, are required to conduct themselves in a manner that is representative of good, respectful and responsible parents, citizens and neighbors. In addition to teaching skills and an appreciation for the game of baseball, coaches are looked upon by players as role models for behavior. Many players will emulate their coaches in respect to competitive attitude, sportsmanship and fair play. It is imperative that all coaches conduct themselves in a manner that provides a strong moral guidepost for players – and their parents – to follow. The following behavior will not be tolerated and could result in disciplinary action, including removal from coaching.
Use of abusive or obscene language
Denigration of players on coach's team or opposing teams
Failure to follow the Fair Play guidelines and other rules and procedures contained in this handbook
Failure to act in a manner that reflects sportsmanship, such as refusal to shake hands, knowingly violate rules of play or to condone or perpetrate the distraction of batters, pitchers or fielders on opposing team
Excessively loud or aggressive reaction to an umpire's decision or the actions of an opposing team or manager.
Loud or aggressive confrontations with spectators
Any physical or physically threatening confrontation with players, coaches, spectators or umpire
Failure to provide a safe and responsible environment for players during games and practice
